This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

Caroline Attard (vocals)

(Also known as: Carolyn Bown)
BANDS:
  • The Other Two [1964-1969]
  • Storyteller [1969-1971]
  • Elton John Band [Feb 72]

BIOGRAPHY:

Wonderful vocalist.

THE OTHER TWO

Caroline started her career in a duo called The Other Two:

After a couple of singles, they went on tour with some great bands and soloists, during the 60s. In 1964, they were in the same bill as Chuck Berry and The Nashville Teens. The Nashville Teens backed them during the tour, although there were other bands that played with them during that time (Downliners Sect, for example).

After 5 years, they split in 1969.

STORYTELLER

Around 1969, Caroline Attard moved to a new band that was being formed, Storyteller:

Andy Bown was friends with them, so he used to play bass with the band when he had some spare time (he was in The Herd by then).
Some time later, they get a permanent bassist:

Rod Clark

Their first album, Storyteller was produced by Andy Bown and Peter Frampton. This album has been reissued on CD, with 6 bonus tracks (they're really taken from their 2nd album, More pages).
After the 1st album, Rod Clark leaves Storyteller, being substituted by Chris Belshaw:

STORYTELLER #3

Roger Moon

Mike Rogers

Chris Belshaw
bass, vocals

Their 2nd album, More pages, was produced by Andy Bown alone. It contains the contribution of Henry Spinetti on drums who was to join the band, and Harry Beckett on trumpet and flugelhorn.
Now with Henry Spinetti, this is the new lineup in 1971:

STORYTELLER #4
1971
Caroline Attard

Terry Durham

But the band finally parted ways in that same year 1971.

Around that time, Caroline married to Andy Bown, and she became Carolyn Bown.

ELTON JOHN BAND

In February 1972, Elton John includes superb vocalists and a whole orchestra for his gigs:

(retired)ê

AND THEN...

After that, she still sang in some albums (the ones I've been able to trace are the ones by her husband), until she became a mother, when she retired from music.

But this story has a very sad end. In 1991, Andy Bown left Status Quo. At first, the reasons weren't made public, but sometime later, it was known that Andy left the band to take care of his wife, who was severely ill with cancer. This was Carolyn. Finally, Carolyn died on July 4th, 2001. Rest in peace.

    To be covered (60): ...

On November 26, 2008, he suffered a heart attack, and sadly died on December 29, 2008. He was 70.

For jazz purists, his best period was the sixties, with wonderful albums. They don´t think his career in the 70s, especially on albums by the CTI label are good, but I don´t agree at all. I like most of them, maybe except when he tried to go disco in the late 70s. But his contribution to jazz is very important.
